Amazingly enough, I'm not dead. [Mar. 7th, 2008|06:46 pm]

So I woke up this morning feeling dizzy, feverish, coughing up phlegm, and having a pounding headache. I informed work that I was going to be dead for a while and would try to get back to them as soon as possible. I then went back to bed. I got up, woozily ate lunch, then went back to bed again. I sat on the couch and read three pages of Guns, Germs and Steel and then went back to bed.

I've walked perhaps 40 steps today, most of which have felt like massive physical efforts.

About an hour ago, in a blurry, delirious, overheated moment of self-supposed clarity, I became intensely aware that the Singularity was going to start in the Philippines because of the east-west axis of the Asian continent, the direction of Earth's rotation, and the fact that they had sugar cane. And then my fever broke.

Now I actually feel-- okay, not better but only like I've had the ever-loving shit beat out of me and not like it's currently happening. 24-hour nightmare illness. I AM SO GLAD THAT IS OVER.

Just wondering, how does the east west orientation of the Asian Continent result in the singularity beginning in the Philippines? ( I wonder because Philippines has mainly a north south orientation)

Oh and to further my interest in this topic, I remember as a teenager, watching a documentary stating that the evolution of civilization occurred in Africa/Europe/Asia instead of the Americas because of the fact that it had an east-west orientation that enabled tribes/groups to move laterally along bands of similar latitude and thus similar climate, allowing them to acclimatise slowly to different latitudes, while in the American continents its north-south orientation means radically changing climates as one traveled up and down, reducing the time groups could acclamtise to the environment.

I think (remember I was *quite* delirious) the idea was that the Philippines would be the start point, and having that First Day of The End Times start there all at once was key.

Another big thing about the east-west orientation of the Eurasian supercontinent is that the very few domesticable species that occur can all be shared along the east-west axis.

In the Americas, when a crop was domesticated it couldn't easily be moved far north or south because the climate wouldn't be right anymore.
